English words from the Classical Myths: Venerate

According to the Oxford Dictionary the word venerate is "regard whit great respect; revere"
According to the Etymology Dictionary, the word venerate comes from the name of the Roman Goddess of beauty and love, Venus." Venus is a Roman goddess principally associated with love, beauty, sex, sexual seduction and fertility, who played a key role in many Roman religious festivals and myths. From the third century BC, the increasing Hellenization of Roman upper classes identified her as the equivalent of the greek goddess Aphrodite" in words of Wikipedia.
